OAO Fanplit, plywood mill in Kostroma
The Fanplit mill was established as a reconstruction of Gorskiy-Arkhangelskiy Company’s wood-cutting mill in 1903–12. Its operation startup was celebrated on 1 July 1913. The first owner was F.F. VU FK Novator, plywood mill in Velikiy Ustyug
This plywood-making facility was designed and built in 1906–09, conceived by Ivan Lvov, a businessman from Velikiy Ustyug.1910, the Novator trading and industrial partnership community is established.1911, the facility is upgraded and enlarged.1918, a shutdown follows events of the 1917 revolution.1920, Novator partnership plywood mill is nationalized and renamed as Novator Plywood Mill, Velikiy Ustyug; its operation restarts.1922, the Novator Plywood Mill is acquired by a Moscow group of plywood facilities.1927, Novator is assigned to Severodvinsk regional executive committee, under charges of no economic rationale for the mill’s operation.1928–30, the mill undergoes reconstruction, a new production facility is built, process equipment purchased, boiler and machinery sections enlarged, and plywood output doubles.1931–32, manufacturing of plywood for aviation use is implemented, and export deliveries of plywood go up sharply to reach 40% of the total output.1943–44, facility upgrading.1944, a process is implemented for making plywood of coniferous wood (pine).1950, the mill’s team wins the nationwide competition of forestry and wood-processing industries of the USSR.1963, the Novator mill is renamed as Velikiy Ustyug Plywood & Furniture Mill and is assigned to the National Economy Council of the Northwest Economic Region.1974–79, reconstruction and replacement of equipment and a number of manufacturing process components.1997, an additional rail track is arranged for a newly established production site of the mill near Velikiy Ustyug railway station terminal in order to provide higher efficiency of product shipping and incoming shipments unloading, now processed in-house. The mill switches to a new standard (GOST) of plywood manufacturing; a process is implemented to improve plywood quality.1998, wood-sawing capacity is expanded.

Holding company SVEZA was founded in 1997 and since that time remains the major wood-processing company. The main activity is various kind of plywood production and chipboard production on four factories: FANPLIT, Kostroma town (annual plywood manufacturing capacity is 140000m3), UIFK, near St.Perersburg (annual plywood manufacturing capacity is 100000m3), PFK, Perm town (annual plywood manufacturing capacity is 170000m3), NOVATOR , Vologodskaja oblast (annual plywood capacity is 70000m3). All mills have modern equipment more than 70% of it was installed during past years. The main markets are Russia, North America and Europe. About 60% of production is exported for 42 countries.

Parfino Plywood factory is the leading producer of birch plywood in Russia.The mill was founded in 1910 in St.Peterburg by the merchantman of the first guild Dmitry Lebedev.In 1998 it was named Parfino Plywood Factory.In 2003 new advanced equipment was installed: veneer sheet production and drying equipment “RAUTE” (Finland), press for plywood gluing, welder line “HASHIMOTO DENKI” (Japan). The annual plywood manufacturing capacity is 95000m3 and up to 90% are exported to Europe and USA.

The UIFK was established in 1910. Its first owner was V.L. Khorvat, a process engineer. 1935, the facility is upgraded to rank with the major state-owned plywood mills in the USSR.1949, the first export delivery is carried out.1951, the facility undergoes restructuring and recovers its pre-WWII production output rate.UIFK-made plywood has been used for the construction of Rossiya Hotel, Moscow, the Palace of Congresses in the Moscow Kremlin, Oktyabrskiy Concert Hall, St Petersburg, all St Petersburg metro stations and a few ones in other cities of the world.1997, UIFK joins the Sveza Group.The mill holds FSC COC, ISO, EN (CE-mark) and BFU-100 international certificates.
